Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to discuss the necessity of tertiary education in promoting innovations of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area by using cases from other well-developed bay areas.
Design/methodology/approach
The paper used cases from bay areas of the USA and Japan to discover approaches that have been used to strengthen collaborations between tertiary education and industries by innovations.
Findings
This paper found that bay areas in the USA and Japan have adopted or developed various approaches to enhancing collaborations between tertiary education and industries. In the San Francisco Bay Area, the well-established knowledge transfer offices in universities help scholars to discover the commercial value of academic findings and help business in reverse. In New York Bay Area, big corporations built research institutes for universities with considerable findings. In Tokyo Bay Area, corporations and universities have developed various internship programs for different levels of students and also provide funds for universities to conduct research works.
Originality/value
This paper analysed approaches that using by other well-developed bay areas through real cases, and suggested that the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area should adopt these experiences in order to strengthen collaborations between tertiary education and industries to promote innovations.

Abstract
Purpose
This study aims to investigate the effectiveness of two types of social media videos used for destination image development: induced/commercial-oriented content and organic content (where content is made without commercial interest, such as vlogs classified as user-generated content).
Design/methodology/approach
Experimental research using “Emotive EEG” (electroencephalogram) in a controlled environment was conducted with 30 participants (20 males, 10 females), age range 18 to 26. Emotive EEG recording was performed while the participants watched both types of video clips. Test results for both groups indicate that induced content is preferred over organic content.
Findings
This study opens up future research avenues where neuromarketing’s “Marketer Friendly” EEG equipment can be applied to the customer selection process.
Originality/value
Marketing analysts can gauge the interest and response of customers on different types of social media video content for destination marketing based on the findings of this study.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this study is solving the hand–eye calibration issue for line structured light vision sensor. Only after hand–eye calibration the sensor measurement data can be applied to robot system.
Design/methodology/approach
In this paper, the hand–eye calibration methods are studied, respectively, for eye-in-hand and eye-to-hand. Firstly, the coordinates of the target point in robot system are obtained by tool centre point (TCP), then the robot is controlled to make the sensor measure the target point in multiple poses and the measurement data and pose data are obtained; finally, the sum of squared calibration errors is minimized by the least square method. Furthermore, the missing vector in the process of solving the transformation matrix is obtained by vector operation, and the complete matrix is obtained.
Findings
On this basis, the sensor measurement data can be easily and accurately converted to the robot coordinate system by matrix operation.
Originality/value
This method has no special requirement for robot pose control, and its calibration process is fast and efficient, with high precision and has practical popularized value.
